Hey! I’m Sophie – the human behind the camera at Sophie Granger Photography. I’m a Sydney-based photographer with over 25 years of experience capturing people in their natural, beautiful, chaotic glory. Weddings, portraits, branding shoots, PR campaigns – you name it, I’ve probably photographed it (and had a ball doing it).
Photography for me isn’t just about taking nice pictures (although I will get your good side). It’s about connection. About stepping into someone’s world, soaking it all up, and capturing moments that are real, raw and bursting with personality. The kind of images that make you laugh, cry, and say, “That is SO us.”

How It All Started
I studied photography at KVB Art School back in the early 2000s and spent six years assisting some of the best food, fashion and advertising photographers in Sydney. It was hands-on, high-pressure, learn-on-the-go kind of work – and I loved every second.
Eventually, I stepped out on my own, camera in hand, ready to do things my way. I started shooting weddings and people in 2004 and haven’t looked back since. Over the past two decades, I’ve worked with hundreds of couples, families, individuals, creatives, corporates, and brands across Australia and overseas. (Yes, I’ll absolutely pack my bags and shoot your wedding in Italy. Or the Hunter Valley. I don’t discriminate.)
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Working with me is like having a mate with a camera – if that mate also happens to be highly experienced, cool under pressure, and weirdly good at making people feel instantly at ease.
I’m loud (in the best way), fun, organised, and deeply invested in making your shoot feel relaxed, joyful and you. I’ll hype you up, help you shake off the nerves, and spot the moments you didn’t even know were happening.
I’m just as comfortable running the show with a wedding party of 12 as I am quietly capturing a tender parent-child moment during a portrait session. I’ll make your boss feel like Beyoncé and your toddler think I’m the funniest human alive (no pressure, right?).
My Style
People often describe my photography style as candid, vibrant and full of feeling. I’m all about documenting the real stuff – those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments, the uncontrollable laughter, the joyful tears, the small glances between big events.
I shoot in a relaxed, documentary style, focusing on movement, connection and emotion. No awkward poses or stiff smiles – just honest photography with heart.
